Ability One Contracts

The AbilityOne Program is a coordinated effort on behalf of the Federal Agency, the Committee for Purchase from People Who Are Blind or Severely Disabled (the Committee), National Industries for the Blind (NIB) and NISH – Creating Employment Opportunities for People with Significant Disabilities. NISH requires contract recipients to maintain a workforce percentage of 75% of employees with a disability to 25% of employees without a disability. The Four Rivers Industrial Divisions have been able to ramp up and maintain those percentages throughout each contract that they have been awarded.

The Four Rivers Industrial Divisions have provided quality products through the AbilityOne Program for 10 years, as a prime and sub contractor. Some of the products manufactured are Cold Weather Drawers, Air Force Battle Uniform Coats and Carrying Cases for Gun Barrels as a prime contractor. As a subcontractor Four Rivers has produced Tank Identification Panels (3 different designs), Friendly Fire Panels with accompanying pouch, various lengths of web straps with ball tip and buckle and Web Doors made from seat belt webbing.

The Industrial Division utilizes the ANSI Quality System and has never had an item returned by the Federal Government. Every item manufactured by the Industrial Division is made following strict specifications called out in an item description, pattern or drawing. In a three year period Four Rivers delivered over 600,000 pairs of Cold Weather Drawers in sizes XS to 3XL without any returns or rejections.
